Our safety officer, Moogan Friesian, gets involved with Yellow Wellies Farm Safety Week...

The Farm Safety Foundation, or 'Yellow Wellies,' as many people know it, is an independent registered charity working throughout the United Kingdom to address the attitudes and behaviours to risk-taking and poor mental health in the next generation of farmers (under 40 years old). They are the team behind the well known campaigns, 'Farm Safety Week' and 'Mind Your Head.'

Their goals are to:

  • Preserve and protect the physical and mental wellbeing of young farmers and young people moving into agriculture

  • Challenge and change the attitudes towards risk-taking and poor safety behaviours in the next generation of farmers

  • Reduce the number of life changing and life ending injuries in young farmers

Farm Safety Week begins today, Monday July 17th, and Dugdale Nutrition are proudly getting involved. Our 'Serious About Safety' Officer, Moogan Friesian, is well-known to visitors of Dugdale Nutrition and to customers who collect feed from our Clitheroe mill. He is featured around both of our sites, informing people of our health & safety policies and site rules. We felt it was time to introduce Moogan to the wider public, and what better time than Farm Safety Week!

So, what has Moogan got planned this week? Watch the video below and he will explain for himself...

During the rest of the week, we will be sharing useful infographics on our social channels relating to the most common on-farm dangers. These are:

  • Machinery & Transport

  • Height & Falling Objects

  • Slurry Tanks & Lagoons

  • Livestock

  • Overhead Power Lines

We are also running a Yellow Wellies themed 'Farming Friday Competition' which started on Friday 14th July. Head over to our Facebook page for entry details.
