Every cow has the potential to be a great cow. It is the unfortunate events that occur during her life which will determine how much of her genetic potential she will express. The top 15% of cows give excess of 12,500kg, whilst the bottom 15% give less than 8,100kg. The impact of stress, trauma and disease will chip away at the genetic potential and eventually lead a potential great cow to become a below average cow. These cows are the ones that cause the most headaches and yield the least amount of profitability. By addressing management, environment, and nutrition we can stop Bad Things from Happening to Good Cows and give every cow the opportunity to be a great cow!
